Introduction:
The Crown is in the centre of a busy city, we have 15 rooms offering single, double, twin or family rooms.
We aim to provide the highest standards of service to all our guests and encourage this through our culture and detailed staff training. We look forward to welcoming you to The Crown at Wells and making your stay an enjoyable one. We offer the following services and facilities:
Pre Arrival:
For assistance prior to arrival, please contact the reservations team on 01749 673457.
The centre of the town is immediately in front of The Crown.
There is a company who specialises in accessible taxi services. Please see ‘contact information’ below.
Our brochures, sample menus and tariffs are available in larger font, on request.
You can contact The Crown by ‘phone, email, fax or in person. We are open from 7am until 11.30pm.
Arrival and Car Parking Facilities:
All guests should use the main entrance of The Crown, located on the Market Place. There are no steps and the ground is cobbled, however, there is a slight slope.
The main entrance has two manual side doors.
Reception is available for valet parking, if required.
You may access the car park and use the entrance to The Crown from the car park, which has level entry to the reception.
The car park entrance is located past the turning circle of the right, below The Crown. There are limited spaces. If you need assistance with luggage, equipment or guidance, our team of reception staff are on duty during opening hours.
Outside the rear door to the courtyard there is water provided for dogs.
Main Entrance and Reception:
There are no steps in the main lobby area.
If you arrive from the car park, the reception is on your right.
The front desk is immediately in front of you when entering the main entrance.
There are a number of sitting areas in reception/the lobby area.
The reception desk is 120cm high. Registration can be completed whilst sitting in the reception area and we have clipboards available.
On check-in, staff will brief you of our evacuation policy.
The registration card can be enlarged if require and we have a guidance tool to help guide you through the registration card, if required.
To the left of the main reception is the bar.
The main restaurant is located behind reception. There are three steps en-route or at the entrance to the restaurant.
The floor surface throughout the reception lobby is wood, which can be reflective and shiny. Please ask the receptionist for assistance, if required.
Familiarisation tours can be given where required.
Public Areas – WC:
There are two sets of public toilets, one in the bar area and one upstairs on the first floor.
The toilets provide:
150 x 160cm free space free of obstacles and doors.
98cm transfer space to the left of the restaurant/bar.
There are lever taps on sinks.
There is colour contrast with critical surfaces, tiles are coloured and sanitary ware is white.
Restaurant/Dining Room, Bar:
Nearest toilets to the bar and restaurant is to the left hand side of the Penn Bar, behind the bar counter – details can be seen in the public areas WC section.
There is a bar situated on the ground floor to the left of reception.
It has level entry and is open plan, with wooden, even flooring; there are several steps to different areas.
There is a selection of tables and chairs available of varying heights.
Lighting is mainly natural day light (from large windows) whilst parts of the bar have low level lighting at night, there are areas which are well lit also.
There is a restaurant on the ground floor which is reached through the bar area or right at the base of the main stairs. There are three steps down into the restaurant, for which we have a ramp. There is one step up to the lounge area and one, low step into the rear of the restaurant.
The restaurants is table service only.
Menus are available in large print, at prior notice, and staff will automatically take you through the menu and choices for the meal.
Lighting is mainly natural day light, whilst for the evening meal lighting is low level. Lighting can be increased at certain tables if required.
We are able to cater for varying dietary needs.
Laundry:
Laundry service is available in the town, details from reception.
Shop:
There are several shops within a short walk of The Crown.
Leisure Facilities:
There are no leisure facilities at The Crown, however, we can arrange golf, horse riding and many other activities, please ask at reception. There is a leisure centre five minutes drive from The Crown.
Outdoor Facilities:
There are no outdoor facilities.

There are 15 bedrooms with:
Hearing difficulty signs.
Twin or double bed combinations available.
23cm space under the beds.
Emergency procedures clearly written and in large print.
Television with remote control.
Flooring in bedrooms is short pile carpet.
